STT GDC Kolkata 2 is 6 MW — two thirds of the operator’s Kolkata portfolio and exactly twice its sibling. It is the workhorse of the eastern estate and the largest STT building east of Chennai. It is also 5.6 times the total data centre capacity this registry counts across all of West Bengal. Six megawatts is the third smallest capacity in the STT estate and the biggest number in this state. No stage, rack count, floor area or PUE is published.

2Two thirds of the east
Kolkata is a two-building portfolio split two to one. The 6 MW building is the market presence; the 3 MW building is the foothold.
| Building | MW | Share | Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Kolkata 1 | 3 | 33% | the foothold — PRJ-134 |
| Kolkata 2 | 6 | 67% | the workhorse |
| Total | 9 | 100% | an exact reconciliation |
Against the state’s bigger operators, 6 MW is small. CtrlS publishes a 60 MW campus in four phases and NTT a 25 MW campus, and both dwarf this building on paper. But both of those are campus claims, and only one phase of the CtrlS campus is a named building at 16 MW.
The relevant comparison in West Bengal is not campus against campus. It is whether the buildings exist, and on that measure STT is the only operator in the state with a clean two-building reconciliation and nothing hidden.
3The number six, everywhere
This is an oddity worth recording rather than explaining: 6 MW appears four times across two operators and two cities in this file.
| Record | 6 MW is | Reliability |
|---|---|---|
| STT Kolkata 2 | a building card, exact | high — reconciles into a 9 MW portfolio |
| STT Hyderabad portfolio | a headline against a 4 MW card | unexplained 2 MW residual |
| CtrlS Hyderabad DC 1 | the top of a 4-to-6 MW range | the firmest of four published combinations for one building |
| STT Hyderabad 1 | the building card, at 4 MW not 6 | the figure the portfolio headline exceeds |
Two of those sixes are solid and two are parts of an unresolved pair. In Kolkata the 6 is a building; in Hyderabad it is a portfolio figure that no building accounts for.
The pattern is worth keeping because it is exactly the kind of coincidence that gets a number repeated as fact. If someone quotes "6 MW Hyderabad" it could refer to a portfolio headline, a range ceiling or a building — and only one of those is capacity.

5Limits and open questions
- No stage, racks, floor area or PUE. The standard STT gaps.
- Counted at zero in a state counting 1.08 MW.
- No commissioning date. The two Kolkata buildings cannot be sequenced from public material.
- East India has almost no new supply announced, so this building’s pricing power depends entirely on facts nobody has published.
- Single source for the 6 MW.
- What would close it. A stage and a density. Two facts for the most important building in eastern India.
