Who We Are · What We Do

Independent research for the largest digital-infra buildout in India's history.

India's data-centre capacity is doubling every 2–3 years — but the market intelligence to navigate it is scattered. Gridvik puts it in one place — source-linked, dated and refreshed weekly every Monday (material events logged sooner).

Who we are

Gridvik is an independent research team focused solely on India's data-centre market. Our research is backed by dedicated data engineering and analyst capabilities. We are not affiliated with any operator, investor or government body.

We started Gridvik because we saw the same problem every fund, operator and vendor faces: no one has a single, trustworthy view of what is being built, where, and on what timeline. Consultants sell it for $30K after 3 months. Headlines contradict each other. State portals are incomplete. We fix that with discipline, not magic.

How we describe ourselves — and how we don't

Positioning matters in this market. We are careful with language:

  • We are a market-intelligence & research firm — not a data reseller.
  • Public data only — press releases, government portals, filings, established reports.
  • No permits, no scraped private data — everything is citable in your IC memo.
  • No investment advice — we deliver verified facts; you make the call.
  • No affiliation claims — independent, always.

This language is deliberate. "Selling the country's data" is not who we are — "independent research & consulting on public information" is.

Principles — how we earn trust

We publish our methodology because our clients need to defend it in their own investment committees.

Methodology in 30 seconds

  • All data compiled from public sources only: operator press rooms, government dashboards, regulatory coverage, established industry reports.
  • We distinguish status — announced ≠ under construction ≠ live — and never mix them.
  • Conflicting figures are reported side-by-side, not averaged away. You see the spread.
  • Rows not re-verified within 30 days are flagged. Our linter blocks listing-page links automatically.
  • Market-size figures always state whose estimate and which scope (live vs. pipeline vs. planned).
  • Counting rule: 48 records = facilities + multi-site programmes + financing milestones; MW is summed only for facilities where disclosed, not for programme headlines.

What we do — the four layers

One dataset replaces four research headaches. Clients subscribe because each layer answers a different crore-level question:

🗺️ Project Tracker — "What is being built, where, at what size, by whom, and when?"
🏛️ Policy Matrix — "Which state gives me the best incentives for my use-case?"
⚡ Power Layer — "Can I get reliable, affordable power at that site? Power and connectivity often decide viability."
📦 Procurement Windows — "When does this project buy cooling / power / connectivity?" — the vendor's favourite column.

Why now

India is the #1 DC market in APAC outside China— BloombergNEF, Aug 2026

Live capacity ~1.8 GW (Savills H1 2026), up from ~0.4 GW in 2020. Pipeline ~4.5 GW (announced + under construction, Savills scope; industry totals vary by definition).

$126B headline commitments (press tally, Oct 2026)

Google $15B + Microsoft $20.5B + AWS $21B + Reliance $20–30B — sum of announced headlines, not Gridvik-verified capex. Gridvik’s disclosed-capex subset is ~$95B across 48 records where figures were published.

Capacity is dispersing

Today 55% sits in Maharashtra. The next 5 GW is moving to power-rich coastal sites (Vizag, Jamnagar) and policy-aggressive states (UP, Gujarat, TN).

No national subsidy race — yet

States compete bilaterally with anchor investors. The window for a neutral, comparative dataset is exactly now.

Our moat is discipline, not data hoarding

We don't scrape private data or promise government access. We are simply the most disciplined team compiling what is already public — with sources, dates and scores. That discipline is what ICs and procurement heads need to defend a decision.
