FAQ — Gridvik at a glance

1What is Gridvik? +
Gridvik maps India’s data-centre grid — 62 projects (facilities, programmes & financing milestones) — every row with exact source URL, announcement date and confidence 1–3, refreshed every Monday 9am IST. We are independent, India-based, public-data-only. We don’t sell announcements; we sell what the grid will actually give you. Start with the free teaser or Insights.
2What is the Power & Approvals Intelligence Layer? (NEW PILOT) +
An India-focused dataset that tracks sanctioned load, substation/feeder headroom by district, CTU/STU connectivity grant status + queue date, OA charges (wheeling/CSS/transmission/AS), landed cost (₹/unit 20-yr NPV), ISTS waiver exposure, incentive applied/granted/disbursed, land/approval state, water, plus time-to-power and procurement windows — per project weekly, source-linked, versioned. See Platform for exact fields and real sample.
3Do you sell raw data or analysis? +
The free public sample contains 8 best-verified rows. Paid GridFeed and Power Layer plans provide the full 62-record source-linked master under the selected licence; the Power Layer adds clearly labelled derived fields. The API/MCP is in development and is not yet hosted. See the 8-row public sample and API status.
4How is this different from CBRE / Cushman & Wakefield / Savills free reports? +
Broker reports give city-level aggregates quarterly to win leasing mandates — we give asset-level rows weekly, with source URL + date + confidence, plus the Power Layer no free report contains (sanctioned load, headroom, grant queue, disbursement). Use free reports for aggregates, Gridvik for the decision on one site. See Power Bottleneck guide.
5How is Gridvik different from DC Byte? +
DC Byte tracks 8,500+ facilities globally with analysts who visit markets — breadth. We track 62 projects in India with depth on power & approvals that DC Byte lights as one line item. You can’t win coverage vs DC Byte or S&P Global; you can win ground-truth in one market. Read our Temasek audit for how we audit vs global datasets.
6How is Gridvik different from S&P Global / datacenterHawk (bought 1 Sep 2026)? +
S&P bought datacenterHawk (asset-level + Fiber Locator) to build power-linked benchmarks — exactly our thesis, but global and premium. We are India-first, weekly, source-linked, and sell the power sub-station reality they light as country roll-up. Our most plausible acquirer is S&P/DC Byte — we build to be acquired, not to out-spend them.
7What about DC Hub (dchub.cloud) free 21,000 facilities + API? +
DC Hub is agent-first, more rows than us for 1/10th the price — you can’t beat it on coverage. We beat it on fields that can’t be scraped: sanctioned load, headroom, grant status, incentive disbursement, plus longitudinal diff. See field list.

Power & Approvals — the moat

8Who is Gridvik built for? +
Four buyers — same data, different cut: (1) Infra/PE funds & lenders — diligence & IC memos, (2) DC Operators & Developers — site selection & time-to-power, (3) Vendors/EPC/OEMs — 24-mo procurement calendar + contacts, (4) Utilities/Policy — demand mapping & Index licence. Each has a dedicated cut.
9What does an Investor / Fund get? +
Time-to-power (earliest/base/late), sanctioned load vs applied, ISTS exposure by commissioning year, landed cost model, incentive NPV (disbursed, not promised), ranked alternatives — as Team $18K + Diligence $20–40K memo. See For Investors and Invisible 1GW.
10What does an Operator / Developer get? +
District-level substation headroom map (400/220/132kV), STU queue + OA landed cost (₹/unit), water stress, single-window timeline — as State Pack $3.5K or Team $18K. See For Operators.
11What does a Vendor / EPC get? +
24-mo procurement calendar by equipment class (cooling, power, UPS, cabling, racks, DCIM) + decision-maker map (procurement head, project director, MEP consultant) + status-change alerts — $15–30K/yr, +$5K shortlists. See Procurement Intelligence. This column pays for the subscription.
12What is the Gridvik Power Readiness Index v0? +
A free, citable 10-state score (0–100) on headroom, grant timelines, OA/landed cost, incentive disbursement reality and water — methodology open, versioned, licensed $10–30K/yr to media/research. See Index v0. Funds quote it.
13How many projects do you track? 48 or 62? +
62 projects as of 12 Oct 2026 (PRJ-001→062). You’ll see ‘48’ in older blogs/press because that was the count before 12 Oct adds (PRJ-059–062 backfill + power layer pilot). Free sample is 8 rows (was 20) — full 62 is paid Gridfeed/Team.

Data & Method — how we count

14Why did free sample go from 20 to 8 rows? +
We leaked 42% of the paid asset. 8 best-verified rows (conf 3) still shows discipline, but protects paying subscribers. The Power Layer sample is now the lead magnet — one full Power row.
15What is in the 8-row free sample? +
Best-verified (conf 3) 8 rows: Google Vizag 1,000 MW, Sify Siruseri 130 MW, Reliance-Meta 168 MW, CtrlS Hyd 40 MW Ph2, AdaniConneX Chennai 33 MW, STT Siruseri 45 MW, NTT Mumbai 30 MW, Yotta Noida 250 MW — each with source URL + last-checked + conf. Download at Resources.
16What is confidence 1–3? +
3=official/multiple (gov/operator filing + multi sources) — trust for IC. 2=single credible (ET, Livemint, Moneycontrol with filing) — triangulate. 1=early/unverified/overlap — mark and watch. We never hide 1s; we version them.
17What is verified_date / last-checked? +
The date we last checked the source URL and re-confirmed the number. Every row carries announcement date + verified_date. Target: ~100 source-linked rows as paid scale; teaser v1 uses conf-3 rows only. See methodology.
18How often do you refresh? +
The weekly change log is refreshed every Monday at 9am IST, with material events logged sooner. The dashboard diff view is planned and not yet hosted; the change log is the current reference. The archive is retained from 2026. See Weekly Change Log.
19Do you include cancelled / stalled projects? +
Some funds value failure tracking — we record Announced / Under-construction / Live / Stalled / Cancelled with milestone history and dates. We track Announced / Under-construction / Live / Stalled / Cancelled — with milestone history and dates. The diff highlights stalled→cancelled moves.
20What is time-to-power (TTP)? +
Derived, proprietary estimate of earliest/base/late energisation — from sanctioned load + grant queue + substation headroom + single-window timeline. Public inputs, our logic. It’s the fund decision, not press MW. See Power Layer.
21What is sanctioned vs applied load? +
Applied = what the developer asked the DISCOM/STU for (MW). Sanctioned = what the utility actually granted (MW, per grant register). MoU may say 100 MW, sanctioned may be 30 MW — the delta is the deal. We track both.
22What is substation / feeder headroom? +
Available MVA at the specific 400/220/132kV substation/feeder that would feed the site — per TANTRANSCO/UPPTCL filings. District, not just state. The binding constraint is feeder-level, not state surplus. See For Operators.
23What is CTU/STU connectivity grant status? +
Whether the interstate (CTU) or intra-state (STU) grid connectivity has been applied / queued / granted, effective date and queue position. GNA/OA regime matters for RE captive. Grant date drives TTP.
24What is incentive disbursed vs granted vs applied? +
Applied=you asked; granted=government promised on paper (G.O.); disbursed=money actually credited. The public story is ‘granted’; the investor question is ‘disbursed’. We track the three — and it’s usually staggered / partial. See Index.
25What is OA charges / landed cost? +
Wheeling + transmission + cross-subsidy surcharge (CSS) + additional surcharge (AS) by state — build-up to landed ₹/unit. Plus captive/group-captive vs grid vs RE. 20-yr NPV model in Diligence $20–40K.
26What is ISTS waiver phase-out exposure? +
ISTS charges for renewable dispatch were waived 100% — phasing to 0% for projects commissioned after Jun 2028 (25%/yr). Changes RE economics by ₹0.5–2/unit. We score exposure by commissioning year. See Power Bottleneck.
27Do you track water? +
Yes — source (SIPCOT/TANTRANSCO desalination) + stress for the district. Jamnagar Meta uses desalinated seawater — that’s a datapoint. Water decides DC viability as much as power.

For Buyers — Funds, Operators, Vendors, Utilities

28What is the methodology & counting rule? +
Unit = facility/phase + programme + financing milestone (not headline). Live≠Pipeline≠Commitments≠Financing — we never sum ₹1.08L cr + $15B into ‘India capacity’. Child rows non-additive flagged. Confidence 1–3, source URL + date on every row. See How we work.
29Who is behind Gridvik? How many people? +
We are 7 people — 2 founders + research team including developer and marketing — all India-based. No fake names here; we put methodology and errata ahead of headshots. Advisory board: ex-operators & fund partners (names on request for diligence calls). Find us: LinkedIn, X @gridvikhq, Instagram @gridvikhq, hello@gridvik.com.
30Are you affiliated with the government or operators? +
No. Independent research, not affiliated with any operator, investor or government body. Non-investment-advice, public-data-only. See Disclaimer.

Dashboard & API — in development

31Is this investment advice? +
No. Nothing on gridvik.com is investment advice, legal advice or a government filing. Verify independently for IC. We give you the source trail so your IC can verify in one click, but we don’t recommend buy/sell. See Disclaimer & Terms.
32Is the data public or private? +
Public data only — operator newsrooms, exchange filings, state G.O.s, CTUIL/GNA registers, DISCOM ARR + tariff orders, POSOCO/Grid-India, plus credible press (ET, Livemint, Moneycontrol, The Hindu). We do the grind hard to automate reliably. No leaks.
33What is not included / what are limitations? +
Per-feeder headroom not yet disclosed for all states (we track district, then backfill). Grant timelines are estimates from queue + past grants until grant G.O. drops. Headroom is per-district until full district packs ship M2–4. We mark Unknown — tracked weekly until disclosed, and we flag Derived vs Confirmed. See Platform.
34What is the longitudinal archive / diff? +
Every field, every change, every Monday — with old value → new value + source + date. You can replay any week. ‘Archive grows since 2026 — early start compounds’ is the compounding moat — the longer you are with us, the gap to a new entrant widens. See Change Log.
35What is the Dashboard (pilot / analyst-led)? +
The planned dashboard is designed for state, district, status, operator, capacity and procurement-window filters, project cards with Power Layer chips, a milestone timeline, weekly diff/CSV export and procurement alerts. It is still in development and is not hosted; no dashboard login is currently issued. Pilot delivery remains analyst-led until hosted access is verified. See the dashboard preview.
36What is the API & MCP Server? +
The planned REST API and MCP tools are in development and not yet hosted; there is no live endpoint or API key today. Team and Enterprise plans list API/MCP access after release and verification. The public sample remains 8 rows; the full 62-record master is private and plan-gated. See API status.
37Why pilot / analyst-led and in pilot — not yet hosted? +
To be discoverable and purchasable today while we ship hosted in development. You request a pilot → analyst CSV + pilot access on request → hosted will replace pilot when ready — no data loss, archive starts now. We’re explicit on every pricing card. See Platform.
38Can I save it live to my workspace / BI? +
Not through a hosted API yet—the API is still in development. CSV deliverables under the applicable plan include source links, last-checked dates and confidence labels. The planned API is intended to expose those fields after deployment and verification; Enterprise redistribution rights remain subject to the licence.

Pricing, Billing & Legal

39What does the API return? +
The planned response schema includes value, source_url, announcement_date, verified_date, confidence (1–3) and change_date. Derived fields such as time-to-power and landed cost will be labelled. The examples are illustrative, not a live API response. See API status.
40Do you have llms.txt and openapi.json? +
The discovery files /llms.txt, /openapi.json and /mcp/manifest.json are planned for release with the hosted API; they are not currently available at those URLs. We will publish them after deployment and verification. See API status.
41What is on the Sitemap & will SEO break? +
All pages + Insights are on sitemap.xml (growing library, sitemap stays in sync). We didn’t delete any URL — classic Gridfeed $500/mo and old blog slugs still resolve. Adding Platform/Dashboard/API/Index only adds indexation, no break. See sitemap.xml and robots.txt.
42How many blogs/guides do you have? +
Growing library — all guides at /blogs/index.html and on sitemap (auto-synced). You saw ‘8’ in the homepage teaser preview — that’s the preview grid, not the count. Full library: Insights — Research Library (latest: Google Vizag–Singapore Corridor 15B, Invisible 1GW, Temasek race, STT 11X, 6 milestones, 7GW forecast, $173B two scoreboards, Bhogapuram land, etc.).
43Where is the full blog list? +
blogs/index.html — Guide 01 Why value flows → Guide 20 Google $15B Vizag corridor — plus the Power Bottleneck, Karnataka 2026-31 policy, CoreWeave Taloja 240MW, Fibre site selection, and 12 new audits (STT 550vs50, Temasek, Invisible 1GW, etc.). All source-led, dated, scored.
44Can I link keywords to blogs for SEO? +
Yes — our FAQ does exactly that. Example: ‘sanctioned load’ → Platform + Sify Siruseri sample; ‘ISTS waiver’ → Power Bottleneck guide; ‘STT 550MW’ → STT 11X audit; ‘Temasek’ → Temasek race. Every FAQ answer links to the most relevant blog + platform field.
45What is the price? Is it $500 or $6K/$18K/$45K? +
Both tracks continue: Classic GridFeed is $500/mo ($5,000/yr) for the paid 62-record tracker. Power & Approvals tiers are Analyst $6K/yr, Team $18K/yr and Enterprise $45K/yr, with API/MCP features available only after a verified release. The free public sample has 8 rows. State Pack, Diligence and Vendor Pipeline pricing remains as listed. See Services — full comparison table.
46Why $6K vs $18K vs $45K? Isn’t $500 cheap enough? +
$500 is too cheap to signal IC-grade and too dear for impulse — and it has no API/power reality. $6K is a vendor sales manager’s 1–3% of a ₹5–50cr order; $18K is 0.06% of a fund’s $30M avoided mistake — rounding error for IC, dear enough to be taken seriously. That’s the 2026 pricing rule on Services.
47Is there INR + GST for Indian buyers? +
Yes — USD for foreign buyers, INR + GST for Indian buyers (input credit) — select at checkout/request. Confirm GST with your CA; we issue GST invoice and you claim input credit. Mention billing in the form. See Services — How payment works.
48How does payment work? Do you need WordPress? +
Hosted Stripe/PayPal/UPI payment links (we send in 24h). Also wire/PO & invoices on request. See Services.
49What do I get after I pay? +
Delivery follows the selected plan and its confirmation. The free public sample is 8 rows; the full 62-record master is private and plan-gated. Dashboard/API are in development and not hosted, so no dashboard login or API key is issued today. Pilot delivery is analyst-led until hosted access is verified. See Services or the dashboard preview.
50Can I cancel anytime? Refunds? +
Yes — monthly Gridfeed cancel anytime (annual saves 17%). Refunds per Refund & Cancellation — digital delivery, not shipped goods. Contact hello@gridvik.com first — we resolve when ready, chargeback slows it. See Digital Delivery.
51What is State Pack $3.5K vs old Deepdive $1,500? +
The $1,500 Deepdive was one state without Power Layer. $3.5K adds full Power & Approvals Layer per project in that state (sanctioned/headroom/grant/disbursed/TTP) — 5 days, PDF + state CSV + 14-day query support. Pick state in State Pack form.
52What is Diligence $20–40K vs ‘from $5,000’ Advisory? +
‘From $5K’ was the old 3-week brief + 2 calls without power reality. Diligence is site-specific: time-to-power, landed cost (₹/unit 20-yr NPV), connectivity risk, incentive NPV (disbursed), ranked alternatives — the memo ICs sign. Fixed scope, 3 weeks, 2 calls, 30-day follow-up. See Diligence.

20 Blogs — every keyword linked

53What is Vendor Pipeline $15–30K/yr? +
Your procurement window column as a product: 24-mo calendar by equipment class (cooling, power, UPS, cabling, racks, DCIM/EPC) + decision-maker map (procurement head, project director, MEP consultant) + status-change alerts — plus $5K shortlists ‘Top 10 cooling ops in South India next 4Q’. This column pays for subscription. See Vendor Pipeline.
54Do you offer retainers and expert calls? +
Yes — Market-entry / IC support retainer $5–10K/mo (2 calls/mo + memos) and expert calls $1–2K/call — our archive makes us the cheapest credible expert on India DC power. Use the Contact form and pick Retainer.
55What did you gate from 20 to 8 rows? +
Free sample was 20 rows (42% of paid asset). Now 8 best-verified (conf 3) — still shows discipline, protects paywall. Full 62 + Power Layer is paid. If you need a one-state pilot sample with Power Layer, request it on Platform sample — we’ll send 5-project CSV in 24h.
56How do you handle a 1GW headline? +
We use ‘Six Milestones’ — Announcement → Land → Power → Construction → Energised → Live — and show where this project sits, with evidence at each stage. Don’t sum headlines into capacity. See 1GW Six Milestones.
57What is the ‘500MW double-count’ audit? +
Testing whether a 170MW parent-phase total overlaps its own phases — and whether calling an unverified overlap a proven duplicate is honest. See 500MW Double-Count.
58What is STT 550MW vs 50MW — the 11X flip? +
STT has ~550MW planned in India vs 50MW awarded in Singapore’s latest DC Call — the ratio is arithmetic, not capital shift. See STT 11X and Temasek Two Horses.
59What is Temasek’s Two Horses? +
STT GDC and Keppel (both Temasek-linked) plus CapitaLand — three Singapore-linked platforms racing in India, compared on capacity basis, ownership and live vs announced. See Temasek race.
60What is the Invisible 1GW? +
How GIC & Temasek money lands in India without a press release — dated audit that finds the public record does not verify an investor-attributable 1GW. See Invisible 1GW.
61What is the Google Vizag–Singapore corridor? +
Google’s $15B Andhra Pradesh hub and what it signals for Singapore-linked capital and subsea corridors (Vizag–Singapore–Malaysia–Australia). See Corridor and Vizag vs TCS HyperVault.
62What is Bhogapuram land status (Reliance)? +
AP approved 855 acres, High-Level Committee possession vs ground possession vs power milestones — separate approvals, separate risks. See Bhogapuram and our PRJ-001 HC note.
63What is $173B vs 1.8GW — two scoreboards? +
Investment commitments ($173B since 2021) and operational capacity (1.8GW live, H1 2026) must be tracked on separate ledgers — don’t sum them. See Two Scoreboards.
64What is 7GW by 2030? +
Forecast vs pipeline vs live — C&W says 509MW UC + 3,351MW planned = ~3.9GW supply to 2030 on top of live. The ‘7GW’ headline depends on what you count. See 7GW Forecast.
65What about Karnataka policy 2026-31 1GW target? +
Karnataka’s Sustainable DC Policy targets statewide 1GW IT load — incentives reported, resource mapping needed, but verify before treating benefit as bankable. See Karnataka Policy and Index.
66Where is CoreWeave’s 240MW plan? +
Taloja, Navi Mumbai — AdaniConneX campus, 3×80MW, mid-2028 Ph1 target, planned cooling/hardware — key details not disclosed until filing. See CoreWeave Taloja.
