ESDS Software Solution runs five Tier-3 data centres — at Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Mohali and Noida — across 75,266 square feet, three of them on Software Technology Parks of India premises. A 2024 company statement put its installed capacity at about 7 MW with a plan to double to 14 to 20 MW. Its ₹720 crore IPO opened on 28 August 2026, with proceeds partly earmarked for data centre expansion. No per-site capacity has ever been published. Seven megawatts across five facilities averages 1.4 MW each, and that average is not a fact — it is what is left when you divide a number nobody has broken down. This registry therefore counts ESDS at zero, and the page exists because the arithmetic around it is the most instructive in the file: seven megawatts over 75,266 square feet is 93 watts per square foot, the lowest density of any operator in this registry by a factor of four.

2Seven megawatts, five sites, one number
| Item | Published | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Total installed capacity | About 7 MW | Company statement, 2024 |
| Number of sites | 5 | Confirmed in the IPO note |
| Site locations | Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Bengaluru, Mohali, Noida | Confirmed |
| Total floor area | 75,266 sq ft | Confirmed in the IPO note |
| Tier rating | Tier-3 across the portfolio | Confirmed |
| Capacity per site | — | Not published |
| Floor area per site | — | Not published |
| Current capacity, 2026 | — | The 7 MW figure is two years old |
| IPO proceeds allocated to data centres | Part | Not split out |
The 1.4 MW average is deliberately labelled for reference only. A portfolio of five sites could be one 3 MW facility and four 1 MW facilities, or five at 1.4 MW, or any other distribution. Allocating that total across the five cities would be inventing five facts to produce one number — which is exactly the error the reconciliation of 26 October 2026 removed from this registry in 45 other records.
The registry’s position: a portfolio with no split is a ceiling and is not counted. ESDS contributes zero megawatts to the national 778.69 MW operating total, and the five cities it operates in do not appear in the state tables on that basis.
Seven megawatts is a rounding error against 778.69 MW — 0.9% of the national operating total if it were counted in full.
Its value is not its size. It is that ESDS is the only operator in the file that publishes both floor area and capacity, which makes it the bottom anchor for every density comparison in this registry.
A registry that dropped small operators would lose the only calibration points it has.
3The density comparison that makes ESDS useful
| Operator and facility | MW | Floor area | W/sq ft |
|---|---|---|---|
| ESDS portfolio, five sites | 7.0 | 75,266 sq ft | 93 |
| Sify Hyderabad 01, low | 14.4 | — | 150 |
| Sify Hyderabad 01, high | 14.4 | — | 300 |
| NTT Bengaluru 4 | 67.2 | 183,000 sq ft | 367 |
| PDG HY1 Hyderabad | 90.0 | 173,921 sq ft | 518 |
The fourfold gap between ESDS and NTT, and the 5.6-fold gap to PDG, is the single most important structural fact about the Indian data centre market that is not usually published.
ESDS at 93 W/sq ft is a services business: managed hosting, cloud and application workloads that need floor space, people and connectivity more than they need kilowatts. PDG at 518 W/sq ft is an AI factory shell. Both are called data centres and they are not the same product, the same customer or the same risk.
That is why a single national megawatt total is a blunt instrument, and why this registry’s state and operator tables are more useful than its headline. Seven megawatts of ESDS capacity and seven megawatts of AI-ready capacity are not interchangeable, and no national total can express the difference.
4What the IPO changes
- Company states about 7 MW across five Tier-3 data centres, with a plan to double to 14 to 20 MW.
- ₹720 crore IPO opens. Proceeds partly earmarked for data centre expansion.
- IPO note confirms five sites, 75,266 sq ft, three on STPI premises. No per-site capacity disclosed in the offer document either.
- The doubling target from 2024 has not been updated with a date or a current figure.
A listed company is a different data point from a private one. An IPO prospectus in India has to disclose material capacity, utilisation and capital expenditure with a level of precision that press releases do not. The fact that the offer document confirms five sites and 75,266 square feet but not a per-site megawatt figure is itself information: the number is either not material at this size, or not measured that way internally.
For a buyer of this dataset, ESDS matters as a comparison case. It is the only operator in the file whose installed capacity is small enough that a 2024 statement can still be the best available figure two years later. Roughly a third of the 242 records in this registry are in that condition.
5The market benchmark inside the IPO note
The IPO note cites one number that belongs to nobody in particular and matters to everyone: India’s installed data centre capacity as 1,545 MW as of 31 March 2026.
| Figure | Source | What it measures | Records |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,545 MW | IDBI Capital IPO note, cited in the ESDS offer document | Installed capacity, all operators, method not stated | Not disclosed |
| 778.69 MW | This registry, reconciled 26 Oct 2026 | Named operating buildings only | 48 |
| 1,277.69 MW | This registry | Operating plus under construction | 61 |
| 3,513.69 MW | This registry | Every counted record, all stages | 129 |
The market benchmark of 1,545 MW sits almost exactly between this registry’s 1,277.69 MW and its all-stages 3,513.69 MW — which is what a sensible market estimate looks like when it includes some announced capacity and excludes records nobody can verify.
It is also, notably, 2.0 times this registry’s operating figure. If 1,545 MW is right and 778.69 MW is right, then roughly half of India’s installed data centre capacity is in buildings this registry cannot name. Both figures can be true, and the gap is the commercial case for the review queue: 839 MW of Nxtra and AirTrunk records currently sitting in the pipeline tier for want of a status confirmation.
Quote: India has 778.69 MW of operating data centre capacity across 48 named buildings, and 1,277.69 MW including what is under construction.
Caveat: a broker’s IPO note, published in August 2026, puts total installed capacity at 1,545 MW. That figure is plausible and this registry cannot reproduce it from named buildings, which means at least 300 MW is either unrecorded here or counted differently.
A dataset that publishes its own benchmark gap is worth more than one that quietly picks the larger number.
6What would change this record
| Fact needed | Effect |
|---|---|
| A per-site capacity split across the five facilities | Up to 7 MW becomes countable, allocated across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and one more site |
| A current installed capacity figure | Replaces a two-year-old statement; the plan was to double to 14 to 20 MW |
| Floor area per site | Allows density per site, and shows whether Nashik or Navi Mumbai is the real facility |
| A post-IPO capacity disclosure | A listed company must report; the FY26 annual report would settle it |
The FY26 annual report will probably close this record, and when it does the number will almost certainly be between 7 and 20 MW. It will not change a national total. It will change this page from an absence into a measurement, which is the point of publishing it at zero today.
